Key learning outcomes

Graduates of this study programme dispose of understanding and skills in the area of mathematical and applied statistics (multidimensional analysis, time series, econometrical models), in the theory of fuzzy sets and its applications (theoretical basis of fuzzy mathematics, linguistic fuzzy modelling, fuzzy models of evaluation and decision making), as well as in the theory and methods of optimization and in numerical methods. They understand the mathematical description of economic laws, are equipped with the knowledge of financial and actuarial mathematics and with a wide variety of knowledge and skills concerning mathematical methods for the support of managerial decision making (risk analysis, decision making under multiple criteria and under risk, games theory). These graduates are also skilled and well oriented in the area of management, have the necessary knowledge and skills for project management and for the management of teams. They are capable of communication in English.

Graduate in the master study programme Applications of Mathematics in Economy has general mathematical knowledge and knowledge of a wide variety of mathematical disciplines appropriate or even designed especially to model complex, uncertainty and ambiguity burdened economic systems, and to solve problems defined on these systems. His/her knowledge of the economic disciplines constitutes good conditions for his/her successful employment in economic practice, without the need for long further training. The graduates of this study programme find employment in various areas of economics (banks, insurance companies, software/IT companies, manufacturing plants), in public service or in research and development. Those with a deeper interest in research in the field of applied mathematics can continue to study in the doctoral study program Applied mathematics.
