Key learning outcomes The graduates from the study programme of Applied Chemistry have fundamental theoretical knowledge in all major chemical disciplines (inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry and biochemistry), which is considered necessary for their future career in chemical practice. Aside from this, the graduates have both theoretical and experimental knowledge in experimental methods in chemistry used in nowadays research and industrial practice. The graduates have English language competence in technical and chemical practice and have knowledge in the field of information and presentation technologies involving Internet technology or webpage programming. In the second year the students choose one of two modules, in which they will acquire specific knowledge and skills. The modules are entitled: chemical/material module and business module. In the first one, the students will acquire knowledge from material sciences with the focus on synthesis, characterization, and practical application colloidal systems and nanosystems including methods of solid phase characterization. The graduates are therefore prepared for independent work in the field of material sciences, in industrial practice, or eventually he/she can continue with MSc. study, especially with specialization in material research at universities and other colleges in the Czech Republic and abroad. The latter mentioned business module includes study of chemistry and of economy in context with management. In the course of this specialization module, the graduate will acquire fundamental knowledge from general economy, accountancy, financial company management and fundamentals in marketing and knowledge of organization and function of state administration.
Specific admission requirements unspecified
Specific provisions for recognition of prior learning unspecified
Qualification requirements and regulations 180 ECTS credits, passing the state final exam, defending Bachelor's thesis
Profile of the programme academical
Occupational profiles of graduates with examples The graduate can find employment in a wide range of chemical, medical, pharmaceutical, or food industry and in testing laboratories, state administration or business sphere. It is in all fields where the knowledge of chemistry and connected legislation is required. Further, the absolvent can find employment in the production, elaboration, handle, sale, and removal of chemical substances. In the course of the specialized economical-managerial module, the absolvent, thanks to his economic knowledge, can find employment in the field of independent enterprise or in administration as a specialist in fields where he/she can use his/her chemical knowledge connected with economic and law consciousness. The support of the language development supports the absolvent´s employment possibilities not only in national but also in international companies. After bachelor´s graduation, it is possible to continue with master´s degree in study programs at Palacky University or at any other University.
