Key learning outcomes Students gain familiarity with the molecular basis of metabolic or reproductive disorders at the cell level and with the principles of drug development. In addition to theoretical knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology, they gain practical skills required to work in chemical or clinical laboratories. Students are able to solve problems related to the preparation of new compounds and to the determination of the structure-biological activity relationship, i.e. to predict and study their properties, to propose and carry out modifications to structure in order to enhance biological activity, etc. Therefore, the aim of this bachelor's programme is to produce graduates capable of working in research of biologically active substances, in terms of their synthesis and study in biological matrices.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples Graduate fulfils all criteria for employment in both private or state institutes oriented to the area of chemical, pharmaceutical and food industry: 1) laboratories focused on development of organic synthesis and production of drugs and their intermediates; 2) laboratories focused on isolation of natural products and study of their properties; 3) various control labs in industry; 4) laboratories devoted to development of diagnostic tools and methods; 5) clinical biochemistry laboratories and related labs (hospitals and other medical institutes).
