Key learning outcomes This programme aims at deepening theoretical knowledge, attention is paid to the evolution of language and literature with the objective to understand the regularities of this process and also the current state of both the fields. By working with various texts specialised in literature or language, students are taught to apply various analytical methods and their interpretation skills are broadened. The study programme also consists of obligatory subjects that students must choose from. These are designed to broaden the students' language and specialised competences and to strengthen their professional qualifications necessary for a future career. By studying at one of partner universities abroad (Aix-en-Provence, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Vannes, Lorient, Nancy, Paris 5, Paris 13, Lille, Perpignan, Le Mans, Tallinn, Bratislava), students deepen the knowledge of the practical language. The study programme teaches independent development of the acquired linguistic, literary and cultural skills and their application in practical jobs.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples The graduate of the two year Master course in French Philology, apart from good knowledge of the language, is familiar with the methodology of scientific research in linguistics and literary criticism and he dominates the history of French literature from its beginnings up to the present. As a qualified Romance philologist, he/she is able to work in education system, as an employee of cultural and state institutions cooperating with the French-speaking countries or the institutions within the EU, libraries, research and specialized institutions, or as a translator and an interpreter.
