Key learning outcomes The aim of the Master's study programme is to gain both practical and theoretical knowledge of Latin grammar, an ability to interpret and translate Latin texts, thorough knowledge of Ancient literature, history, culture-historical links and traditions. Students should also learn how to present their arguments clearly and talk about the related topics based on understanding of how the Latin language works. They should also be able to think analytically and critically, and come up with logical arguments. The student should also reach a state of deeper understanding of the cultural continuity and European education in wider context in the field of language, literature, art and history. Students with very good grades are expected to subsequently continue with the follow-up PhD study.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples Graduates of master´s degree studies of Latin philology demonstrate practical knowledge of Latin, ability of translation and interpretation of Latin text and basic view in disicplines related to ancient culture, i.e. ancient literature, ancient history, fine arts, traditions, philosophy, medieval Latin and Neolatin studies. After completing the studies of teacher´s qualifiaction they are prepared for pedagogical work in the field of Latin. The graduates are prepared to apply acquired knowledge in related disciplines in the field of humanities. They can find jobs at the schools of all degrees providing lessons of Latin (gymnasiums, nursing colleges), in reserach institutions, at universities, archives, museums, state administration, journalism, media etc. The excellent students have opportunity of further career and professional growth in the framework of doctoral studies programmes.
