Course content
- Introduction - inorganic nomenclature, basic chemical terms and laws - Atom structure, electron shell in relation with classification of elements, atom nucleus properties, stabile and radioactive isotopes, radioactivity - Structure of molecules and types of chemical bonds - Coordination compounds - nomenclature, bond theories in complexes (MO, VB, CFT, LFT), molecular orbitals, stereochemistry, Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion theory, isomerism - Chemical reactions - thermodynamics and kinetics - State of aggregation and phase transitions - Composition of solutions, selected types of solutions and their properties, acid-base balance - Basics of electrochemistry - Solids, crystallographic terminology, crystallographic literature and databases - Introduction in experimental methods for studies of chemical compounds - diffraction (X-ray), thermal, spectral (UV-Vis, IR, Raman) and magnetochemical methods, NMR

Learning outcomes

Describtion of basic chemical conceptions and laws from general chemistry. Seminar: Describtion of basic laws of the nomenclature of the most important groups of inorganic compounds and their stereochemistry. Basic chemical calculations.
