Course content
Asepsis, antisepsis, sterilization, surgical infections. First aid. Shock, treatment and prevention. Preoperative and postoperative care. Postoperative complications. General traumatology. Radiological and other paraclinical examination in surgery. Surgery of the head and neck, including traumatology. Surgery of the thorax, including traumatology. Surgery of the abdomen, including traumatology. Acute abdominal pain. Surgery of large vessels. Traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, orthopaedics and rehabilitation. Urology. Recent advances in surgery. Nursing process in selected surgical diseases and conditions.

Learning outcomes
To upgrade knowledge and skills acquired in secondary education. Basic methods and principles of diagnosis, treatment and care in surgical patients are emphasized.
Students will be able to apply their knowledge and skills in diagnostic and therapeutic approach with focus on nursing care.
