Course content
Asepsis, antisepsis, disinfection, sterilization, surgical infections. First aid. Shock, treatment and prevention. Preoperative and postoperative care, postoperative complications. General traumatology. Fundamentals of radiological and other paraclinical examinations in surgery. Head and neck surgery including traumatology. Thoracic surgery including traumatology. Abdominal surgery including traumatology. Acute abdominal episodes. Major vascular surgery. Traumatology of locomotor apparatus, orthopaedics and rehabilitation. Urology. Advances in surgery. Surgery in pregnant and birthing women.

Learning outcomes
To introduce both acute and chronic conditions and nursing in relation to pregnancy and labour.
Students will be able to apply their knowledge and skills in diagnostic and therapeutic approach with focus on nursing care in surgery - preoperative and postoperative care.
