Course content
Nowadays problematics of anemia is very current topic. One of the reasons is migration, because next to the common types of anemias there is growing group of patiens with atypical forms of anemias, also in regions where they did not occur previously. Regarding to not sufficient knowledge of this topic between medical staff, mistakes in diagnosis happen. Spectrum of anemias in children is broad and possibilities of recent diagnostics are continualy spreading the group of new types of anemia. It is necessary for students to be globally informed about this topics during their pregradual studies, especially in 5th year, when they study compulsory subject Pediatrics with state exam. Content of elective subject in main topics: 1. laboratory examination and recent trends in diagnostics of anemia in children 2. review, classification and basic information about children anemias 3. congenital disorders of erythropoesis 4. influence of migration on anemia distribution in children 5. anemia of chronic diseases in children 6. parvovirus infection in pediatric hematolog

Learning outcomes
The target of the subject will be new trends in diagnostics of anemias in children, their diferential diagnosis with focus on rare anemias, which can lead to significant morbidity and possible mortality. Furthermore, it will focus on anemias, that are not really typical for middle and north European countries, and because of the migration could occur in our geographic region more frequently. The knowledge of their diagnostics is therefore essential.
The target group are students of the 5th year of medical faculty UP - study program M5103 - General medicine, subject pediatrics. This group comprises aproximately 140 students of present form of studying. Students will expand their knowledge to diagnostic methods in anemias, their diferential diagnosis and will focus mainly on rare anemias, but significant because of their morbidity and possible mortality. Their knowledge will be also extended accros the topic of anemias, that are not really typical for middle and north European countries, however because of the migration could be present in our geographic region more often and that is why the knowledge of their diagnostics is necessary. Pediatric hematology is nowadays promptly developing field and we esteem that is necessary to offer spreading the knowledge in this area to interested student of medical faculty UP - study program M5103- general medicine, subject pediatrics. Altogether it is aproximately 140 students of present form of studying. Students will expand their knowledge to diagnostics of anemia, their diferencial diagnosis and will focus mainly on rare anemias, but significant because of their morbidity and possible mortality. Their knowledge will also extend problematics of anemias, that are not really typical for middle and north European countries, however because of the migration could be present in our geographic region more often and that is why the knowledge of their diagnostics is necessary. Pediatric hematology is nowadays promptly developing field and we esteem that is necesarry to offer spreading the knowledge in this area to possibly interested students.
