Course content
General pharmacology: principles of drug action, basic drug forms, routes of administration, the nature of drug interactions, drug incompatibility. Special pharmacology: pharmacotherapy of the most commonly occurring diseases in population - coronary artery disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus? Routes of drug administration and monitoring of adverse effects. Basic sources of information on drugs used in routine therapy.

Learning outcomes
The student will gain knowledge of the basic principles of general pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and about sources of information regarding drug use. The student will also gain basic knowledge of main drug groups, drug safety during pregnancy and lactation and about pharmacotherapy of the most common conditions in pregnant women.
The students will be able to apply the knowledge about the use and safety of drugs in pregnancy and lactation in their work as midwives.
