Course content
The course of normal medical physiology for the students is designed to acquire the fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge of the function the cells, tissues, body organs, and organism as a whole. An integral part of education of the physiology is understanding the complicated relationships between the organism and environment. Physiology is presented to the students through lectures and practical training. Teaching is concentrated into thematic units provideng the information respecting current status of the knowledge of normal functions of all functional systems of the human body (as circulating body fluids system, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, excretory, endocrine, reproductive systems, and the systems of excitable tissue-nerve and muscle), so that the students obtain the coherent sum of knowledge on the functions of the healthy human organism. Special attention is paid to integrative and control role of the central nervous system, endocrine, and immunity system. The goal of the practical training is make the students acquainted with basic examination methods in haematology, to gain basal skills, necessary for investigation of the cardiovascular (the record and analysis of the ECG curve), respiratory apparatus, kidney, CNS (the record and analysis of the EEG curve), sense organs, and finally the students are acquired with the issues of the good, rational diet. This deep and exact knowledge of the medical physiology are necessary for following study other fields of the general medicine.

Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The broad goal of the teaching of undergraduate students in physiology aims at providing the student comprehensive knowledge of the normal functions of the organ systems of the body to facilitate an understanding of the physiological basis of health and diseases.
The aim of the study is to obtain knowledge about the mechanical, physical, and biochemical functions of humans in good health, about the functions of their organs and the cells of which they are composed. The principal level of focus of physiology is at the level of organs and systems. Students know fundamental methods of working and procedures in physiological laboratory. Mastering the contents of the course is a prerequisite for further study of preclinical and clinical disciplines.
Successful completion of seminars and practical trainings in winter semestr.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Oral exam

The prerequisite to peform the exam of physiology is successful completion of the prescribed practical training and obtain credit for the winter and summer semester. The final exam is oral and has the chracter of the interview.
