Course content
Student should master the critical appraisal of published results (source data and published literature), apprehend principles of laboratory and clinical research (including clinical study phases I - IV), its ethic and legal problems (informed consent, Helsinki Protocol, ethics committee). Further on student should gain orientation in hypothesis construction, in setting the aim of work and in basics of applied statistics ( definition and assessment of overall survival probability and other indicators). Student will receive information on types of publication outputs and their principles, will be informed about the most frequent errors and drawbacks when writing the scientific text. Attention will be also applied to international publishing policy, declaration of conflict of interest and plagiarism issues.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of publishing own scientific and research results, as well as with critical appraisal of already published data, with evaluation of scientific outputs on national and international level, with ethic and legal principles of publishing own data but also reviews and monographies.
After completing the course student will have better comprehension of guidelines and rules of publishing scientific and research results in current biomedicine. Student will implement the acquired knowledge in writing own research work in the frame of student research activity (SVOC) and later during PhD course. The aim is to awake in talented students interest in publishing their results in Czech and international periodicals (case reports, short communications, original papers and reviews).

Interest in research activities, planned or active participation in student research activity (SVOC).

Dialog, Systematic Observation of Student, Questionnaire

75% participation in seminars and hands-on, active involvement in training, self-study.
