Course content
Introduction to the field. Gamete development; fertilization; cleavage; nidation; blastogenesis; ontogenesis. Reproductive cycle; pregnancy and multiple pregnancy; development of gestational sac, amnion, chorion, and umbilical cord. Developmental defects.

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a thematic unit providing basic knowledge of embryology. It includes fertilization, nidation, blastogenesis, development of fetal membranes and nutrition, basic organogenesis and selected developmental disorders.
Upon completion, students will have theoretical kowledge background for further practically-oriented course.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Students must attend all seminars. Being absent, a student draws up a paper on a given topic. A consultation based on an agreement with a teacher.
