Course content
This course provides instruction in writing a range of academic texts such as essays, summaries, reviews or academic articles and dissertations. It focuses especially on academic writing, i.e. effective structuring and logical organization, it explores the strategies of producing coherent and effective texts. It also deals with summarizing, editing, paraphrasing, referencing, quoting, writing a bibliography or avoiding plagiarism.

Learning outcomes
This course provides students in Ph.D. study programmes with instruction in writing a range of academic texts, such as essays, summaries, reviews or academic articles and dissertations. It focuses especially on the mechanics of academic writing - it explores the strategies of producing coherent and effective texts. It also deals with summarizing, editing, paraphrasing, referencing, quoting, writing a bibliography or avoiding plagiarism.

Prerequisites
The course is intended for the students in Ph.D. study programmes. B2 level according to the Common European Framework is expected.The course is not intended for the students of PhD in English Language and Literature.
