Course content
The subject includes the following topics: a subject of genetics Introduction to the study of genetics Mendel's laws material base of genetic information human chromosomes (sex chromatin) basic genetic concepts relationships alleles Monofactorial inheritance polyfactorial inheritance autosomal inheritance and gonosomal Inheritance of blood groups inheritance sex investigation of human chromosomes mutations and chromosomal aberrations mutagenic factors Methods of Human Genetics (biometric statistical methods, twins study, genealogy study) population genetics and prevention of diseases with a genetic component (preconception care, prenatal care, postnatal care).

Learning outcomes
The discipline results from the recapitulation of knowledge of general genetics gained at secondary school level, which is further expanded with selective additional information on human genetics.
After completing the course, students should be able to: - Explain the mechanisms of heredity and variation in the human population - Describe the nature of biological inheritance - Be able to explain the types of inheritance, concepts concerning the relationship of alleles - To characterize the nature of inheritance of sex and blood groups - Calculate the frequency of heterozygotes in the population of a particular character - To understand the preventive possibilities of human genetics - Outline the ethical issues in human genetics
Basic knowledge of cell biology.

Mark, Oral exam
