Course content
The individual lectures will successively acquaint the student with the system of the Czech legal order and the field of public and private law, with an emphasis on the issues connected with intellectual property, among others in relation with the EU, including practical examples and the basic English terminology of the rights resulting from the intellectual property. Scope of the subject: 12 x 2 hours, completed with a colloquium. Individual topics: 1) Bases, sources and history of law 2) Principles of private law - part 1 3) Principles of private law - part 2 4) Principles of private law - part 3 5) The Law of Obligations and the Law of the Business Corporations 6) Legal relationships in commercial transactions - labour law, trade law, business competition 7) System of the public law - financial and administrative law, environmental law 8) Penal law - basic institutes 9) Penal law II. 10) Bases of the EU law 11) Issues of the industrial property and licenses, Enforcement of rights resulting from intellectual property,Legal environment in the field of industrial laws 12) How to apply for a patent and an applied design in the Czech Republic and abroad

Learning outcomes
The objective of the subject is to acquaint the students with the system of the Czech legal order with a particular emphasis on the issues connected with the recodificated private law and the protection of the intellectual property, within the context of the application of legal standards of the Czech Republic in the relation with the EU and the application of the rights resulting from the industrial property in the world.
After this subject, the students will have a basic orientation in the Czech legal order, in particular in the field of the new Civil Code, protection of rights resulting from intellectual property, employment relationships and labour law. This will improve their situation in the selection of their future job.
Prerequisites
The subject is aimed to bachelor and master students of chemical and biological specializations at Faculty of Science, Palacky University in Olomouc.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

The students have to successffully complete the subject with final written exam.
