Course content
1) Archeology - historical geography 2) Patriarchs 3) Hymn about conquest of pharao Merenptah (Near East under influence of Egypt) 4) Division of kingdom and campaign of pharao Sheshonk 5) Israel and Moab 6) Increase of Assur - destruction of Israel 7) Assyrian overmastering of Hizkia 8) Babylonian and the end of Juda 9) Persian king Kyros 10) Makabees 11) Qumran

Learning outcomes
Gaining knowledge of main archaeological findings of particular periods of the history of Ancient Israel and neighbouring state establishments.
Understanding biblical texts in relation to the archaeological findings.
Study of the subject requires no special knowledge.

Assessment methods and criteria

Description of an archaeological finding, its chronological and geographical classification. Definition of the significance for a set biblical text.
