Course content
<ul> <li> Digital measuring system (computer utilization vs. autonomous device), basic classification and construction, structure (bus, star, circle, tree), centralized/decentralized measuring systems, open/closed measuring systems, laboratory measuring systems, standardization of device interfaces <li> Standard interface, RS-232, RS-485, IEEE 488 (GPIB), USB, IEEE 1394 (FireWire), modular systems, industrial systems, VME, VXI, CompactPCI, PXI, PC/104, MXI, device interfaces of industrial measuring systems, Foundation FieldBus, ProfiBus, CAN <li> Plug-in measuring cards for PC, virtual instrumentation, multifunctional cards, programme means, VISA controllers, development environment for measurement applications, programming of measuring systems, SCPI standard <li> LabVIEW, graphical development environment, principle of VI construction, front panel, block diagram, SubVI, work with variables, programme structures, data types of variables and constants, numbers, strings, arrays, clusters, LabVIEW project, creation of applications, installation procedure <li> Programming of digital measuring systems, utilization of RS-232 serial link, creation of applications using multifunctional measuring cards (NI 6024E, NI USB-6215), creation of applications in GPIB measuring system (NI PCI-GPIB interface card), communication with digital multimeter <li> Usage of SCPI standard, basic classification of devices, the most frequent commands, VISA controllers, IVI controllers <li> Advanced programming in LabVIEW </ul>

Learning outcomes
Students will reach the knowledge about digital measuring system, and programming in LabVIEW.
Knowledge Define the main ideas and conceptions of the subject, describe the main approaches of the studied topics, recall the theoretical knowledge for solution of model problems.
Basic knowledge from the field of computer technologies and measurement.
