The objective of the subject is to introduce a museum (of art) as a specific educational medium, whose successful operation inspires the establishment of relatively new pedagogical discipline which is museum and gallery education. This discipline will be explained in the prism of museology and pedagogy; students will become familiar with the cognitive domain - museum teaching as well as with other research issues related not only to museum education but also to the didactics of art education. Throughout the studies, museum education will be included in the system of pedagogical sciences (and in the relationship with the didactics of art education, or, the theory of art teaching). Furthermore, students will learn about the history of museum and gallery use in education and the specifics of museum teaching dependent on art collections (their content and objectives, organisational forms, methods and didactic tools, issues of artworks interpretation, and the specifics of artworks perception).
