Course content
Architecture of museums from the era of Renaissance up to now with a view to the period of 19th - 20th centuries. Museum as a temple, museum as an entertainment centre, "Bilbao effect". Psychological, sociological and aesthetic aspects of building museums according to actual trends and scientific knowledge.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the discipline is to intensify cognition on the possibilities and limits of architecture and design in museum, gallery and other exposition and exhibition buildings, with respect for the educational aims. A graduate will be guided towards becoming a qualified opponent of an architect when designing exhibition buildings, areas and its furniture. Psychological, sociological and aesthetic aspects are emphasised.
Ability to join the professional debate on relations of architecture and museums.
Knowledge on architecture on the Mgr. level.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

Critical analysis focusing on the relationship between museum-educational activities and architecture of a selected vernacular or foreign museum to the extent of 10-20 standard pages. Analysis of the architectural design with emphasis on the viewpoint and needs of the museum education proven during a concrete museum-educational event shall be its part. A prerequisite is an agreement between students and chosen museum institution on cooperation and possibility of personal attendance at the museum-educational operation. Regular consultation with lecturer.
