Course content
Fundamentals of the philosophy and strategy of development of the information systems in healthcare organizations, with the principles of building of the project team, with elaborating of the master plan of the system and with the principles of particular phases of the so called life cycle of the information system. Next the clarification of the principles of healthcare information systems (HIS) and the use of them when planning healthcare services and control manpower and management. To understand the process of planning, selection and implementation of HIS and clinical information systems and the utilization of them when managing the patients healthcare including diagnostics and monitoring the patients.

Learning outcomes
The objective of the subject is to make students familiar with the fundamentals of the philosophy and strategy of development of the information systems in healthcare organizations, with the principles of building of the project team, with elaborating of the master plan of the system and with the principles of particular phases of the so called life cycle of the information system. It should contribute to the clarification of the principles of healthcare information systems (HIS) and the use of them when planning healthcare services and control manpower and management. It should enable to understand the process of planning, selection and implementation of HIS and clinical information systems and the utilization of them when managing the patients healthcare including diagnostics and monitoring the patients.
After going through the subject the students should be able to implement the acquired know-how in managerial practice, students should be able to take actively part in the process of planning and purchase of information systems in the health services organizations.
Prerequisites
Students ought to have advanced attainments in informatics and computer technology.
