Course content
Evolutionary psychology as a science - origin and development. Principles of Neo-Darwinism. Encefalization - evolution of human brain, evolution of intelligence. Marriage and partner selection - short-time and long-time strategies. Parentage and kin - parent investments, kin altruism. Living in groups - cooperation, reciprocity, social intelligence, status, prestige, swindling, aggression and wars. Language - origin and development, social function of language.

Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Projection (static, dynamic)
  • Homework for Teaching - 50 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course aims at presenting actual information and procedures from the branch. Major approaches, conceptual and theoretical topics are listed in syllabus.
Comprehension - Understand the basics of evolutionary theory - Understand the context of the human being in the animal kingdom - Know the research methodology of evolution of the human psyche - Perceive human understanding and action in the context of evolutionary constraints - Understand the major universal human aspirations - Understand the evolutionary importance of the human psyche - Understand the evolution of psychological terminology and be able to understand the professional text - Be able to present the theme of evolutionary psychology to the public

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Written exam

Report about result of scientific research (paper from international journal) for credit. Level of knowledge of students (within the range of lectures) will verified during exam.
