Learning outcomes
Methodology 2 - qualitative approach In this discipline students learn the basics of the qualitative approach in human science, philosophical roots of this approach and differences from the quantitative approach. They will also be introduced to the problem of non-probabilistic selections, the most widely used qualitative designs (case studies, evaluation, content analysis, grounded theory etc.), qualitative methods for collecting and creating of data (interview,focus group, observation, etc.) and qualitative-oriented researcher's position in relation to the concept of validity.
Students should acquire a basic knowledge of the philosophical approaches and the phases of a qualitative research. After completing the course, students will be able to design and implement a simple research project with all the necessities. They will be oriented in the theoretical sources, be able to formulate a research problem and goals, and to choose the appropriate method for data acquisition and analyses.
Prerequisites
Subject METD2 is one of the compulsory subjects (category A). Prerequisites: successfully completition of METD1, Completing of METD2 is a condition for continuation in a folow-up course METD3.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Seminar Work

Students have to study compulsory literature and ppt lecture presentations. Exam is a combination of written test (30 points) and the completing of 2 tasks using the LMS Unifor (20 points). Further details, requirements and deadlines are part of the initial tutorial.
