Course content
Research Design 1 (experiment, quasiexperiment, factorial designs) Research Design 2 (correlation studies, ex-post-facto, development designs, surveys) Basics of statistical methods (descriptive statistics, statistical tests, hypothesis testing) Fundamentals of psychometry (scales of measurement, normal distribution, standard scores) Validity, reliability, standardization Ethical and other aspects of psychological research and publishing (rights of participants, informed consent, the responsibility of the researcher, the possibilities for publication)

Learning outcomes
In this subject students learn basics of quantitative approach, the conditions for its use, methods of selecting a representative sample from the population, basic quantitative research designs (questionnaire surveys, correlation studies, development studies, experiments and quasi-experiments, etc..), Methods of data collection (clinical, questionnaire, test, etc.) including the measurement of variables and scaling. In addition, they discuss issues of standardization, validity and reliability.
Students will learn the theory of using quantitative research designs. They will develop the ability to assess the suitability of their use in psychology.
This course is compulsory (category A) Prerequisites: UMPV. folow-up courses: MPV2, MPV3, MPV4

Assessment methods and criteria
Didactic Test

Students have to study the recommended literature, ppt presentations and their notes form lectures. On this basis they will be evaluated. The form of the completion is the writen credit test. Final graded exam is the part of folow-up subject MPV2.
